Find the Reason for Soft Bounces
Ever wonder why some contacts are soft bouncing? Find the reason!
First, you want to figure out who did not receive your email due to a soft bounce.
- Open the email by going to Assets > Emails and navigating to the email you sent. You must go to the email, not the campaign or segment.
- On the right side of the screen, click the graph symbol.
- In the drawer that slides open, click Email Analysis, under Insight Reports at the bottom of the list.

A new tab will open with the report called Email Analysis by Email that contains many metrics about your sent email. - Find the number next to Total Bouncebacks (not total soft bounces) and click it.
- When you click the number next to Total Bouncebacks, a little menu with a green running man will open. Click it.
- A new tab will open. Click the OK button.
- A new window will open with your report. It will show which addresses bounced and the error messages for all soft and hard bounces.
Remember soft bounces are a temporary problem with the recipient's email service provider or inbox. Eloqua will attempt to re-send to soft bounces three times.
