Tools
NOTE: Staff will have tools mounted in the turret and probed for the upgrade.
Part A
- Tool 0101: 55 degree turning tool
- Tool 0202: 35 degree OD finishing tool
Part B
- Tool 0101: 55 degree turning tool
- Tool 0202: 35 degree finishing tool
- Tool 0303: .125 RH grooving tool
- Tool 0404: RH threading tool
Operations part A
1) Refer to the Haas ST-15 Lathe guide for assistance completing this introductory training.
2) Load program L1A-CSS located in the upgrades folder on the USB thumb drive.
3) Mount the stock into the chuck (if using lathe 3, into the collet). Refer to the part drawing to determine how much should be safely sticking out of the chuck.
4) Refer to the Setting the Z offset section in the Haas lathe guide to set the Z work offset. After completion the turret should be at machine home.
5) Refer to the Running the program section when ready to run the program.
Note before running: At the start of each tool, leave the coolant off to see the distance between the tool and face of the part. If the gap matches the distance to go screen, press the coolant button to turn on the coolant.
7) Measure the part before removing from the chuck. If the dimensions aren’t correct, see staff for assistance in correcting them.
8) Flip the part in the chuck and continue to Part B.
Operations part B
1) Flip part A 180 degrees and mount it into the chuck. Refer to the part drawing to determine how much stock should be sticking out.
2) Load program L1B-CSS located in the upgrades folder on the USB thumb drive.
3) Before setting Z, refer to the Indexing the Turret section of the Haas lathe guide to switch back to Tool 1.
4) Refer to the Setting the Z offset section of the Haas lathe guide to set the Z work offset. After completion the turret should be at machine home.
5) Refer to the Running the program section of the when you’re ready to run the program.
Note before running: At the start of each tool, leave the coolant off to see the distance between the tool and face of the part. If the gap matches the distance to go screen, press the coolant button to turn on the coolant.
6) Measure the part before removing from the chuck. Use the 1/2-20 nut located in the tool box to make sure the threads are correct. If the dimensions/threads aren’t correct, see staff for assistance in correcting them.
7) Remove the part from the chuck and have a staff member check it.
