SIS - Class/Course Attributes

This document provides information for Curricular Representatives on Class/Course Attribute values in SIS.

Peoplesoft allows special designations to be placed on course sections using the Course Attributes field in Maintain Schedule of Classes. (>Curriculum Management > Schedule of Classes > Maintain Schedule of Classes).

These attributes are used to manage data internally:

75MW – This attribute is placed on sections that have been approved to be offered at a non-standard 75-minute Monday/Wednesday time.

COOP – This code is used for Continuity of Operations Planning. It denotes essential courses and courses that are ready to be offered in a social distance format. For more information see the Essential Course Coding entry in the DoIT KnowledgeBase.

DE – Distance Education section.

EXDY – Extended day section. This section and the enrollment package it belongs to meet on or after 4:20pm on a weekday or on the weekend.

EXT – UW-Extension credit section.

G50% -- Course is countable towards the graduate course work (50%) requirement.


These attributes appear in Class Search and Course Guide and can be searched on in Course Guide. Users can also search for GE, SVCL, TRFR, and WES sections in Class Search.

FIG – First Year Interest Group section.

GE – General Education Requirement. This attribute is placed on section-level COM B sections.

LAW – Used internally by the Law School.

RESH – Residence Hall section.

SVCL – Service Learning section. For more information see the Service Learning entry in the DoIT KnowledgeBase.

TRFR – Transfer Section.

WES – Wisconsin Emerging Scholars
