Discontinuation of County Funding for a Faculty or Staff Educator Position
When a locally based, co-funded educator position is affected by funding loss, whether faculty or academic staff, the Division of Extension will work to identify alternative assignments that align with the talents and skills of the affected employee.
That may include a shift in the multi-county boundaries of the existing position, a reassignment to a different county or multi-county area, or reassignment to a regional or statewide specialist position. If relocation is required for a new position, the Division of Extension will develop a transition plan and provide all reasonable moving expenses.
If no alternative funding or position can be found for an academic staff member within the required academic staff written notification period for the position, the division will proceed in accordance with academic staff layoff procedures.
For tenured faculty, the Division of Extension will provide one or more alternate faculty positions consistent with UW-Madison Faculty Policies and Procedures (FPP 7.19 - Obligation to Faculty Members Following Appointment: Continuing Commitment). If funding is not available to support their current position Faculty educators will be guaranteed an option for full employment in another geographic location.
