Continuing Commitment to a Faculty Educator in the Loss of County Funding

This article outlines the Division of Extension's continuing commitment to faculty educators who experience a loss of county funding and the process for identifying reassignment.

When a locally based, co-funded faculty educator position is affected by county funding loss, the Division of Extension will work to identify one or more alternative faculty reassignments that align with the talents and skills of the affected faculty educator and are consistent with UW-Madison Faculty Policies and Procedures (FPP 7.19 - Obligation to Faculty Members Following Appointment: Continuing Commitment).

The appropriate Associate Dean and/or Assistant Dean will engage the affected faculty member, the Department Chair, and, if appropriate, the applicable Vice Chair in the discussion and process to identify a reassignment. Other directors may be included as needed.

An alternate faculty position may include a shift in the geographical boundaries of the existing assignment, a reassignment to a different geographic location, or a reassignment to a regional or statewide position. If relocation is required for a reassignment, the Division of Extension will develop a transition plan and provide all reasonable moving expenses.
