eduroam - Troubleshooting
Use the correct credentials
To log in to eduroam, you must use your full NetID email address. If you are just using your NetID, you will not be able to use eduroam.
- Username: NetID@wisc.edu
- Password: NetID Password
Set up eduroam using the Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)
See Connect to Campus Wi-Fi for instructions to use the UW-Madison eduroam CAT. This is the best way to set up eduroam on your devices.
You should only use this tool if you are affiliated with UW-Madison. This CAT will not work for members of other universities.
Forget the eduroam network and reconnect
- Go to your device's Wi-Fi settings.
- Forget the eduroam network.
- Reconnect to eduroam and log in using your NetID email address and NetID password.
Try a network reset
You may need to do a Network Reset if you are having trouble accessing eduroam.
- Open Settings on your computer. You can search for "Settings" in the Windows menu.
- Click the Network & internet tab.
- Click Advanced network settings.
- Under More settings, click Network reset.
- Click Reset now. This will restart your computer.
- To connect, open your System Network, choose eduroam, and click "Connect".
- Enter your NetID email address (NetID@wisc.edu) and your NetID password. You must include the "@wisc.edu" in the username.
Use UWNet
If you need internet access and you aren't able to use eduroam, connect your device to UWNet. See UWNet - Log In to UWNet for instructions to log in and use to UWNet.
Devices without browsers cannot use eduroam and must be registered on UWNet. See UWNet - Register a Device Without a Browser for instructions.
