Guidelines for Graduate Student Proposals for Funding for Projects
As a Grad student you may seek out funds for a project that is closely related to your degree or area of interest. In order to do so, you will need to submit a proposal before work is completed. Please follow the guidelines below.
Include:
a. What is the work to be completed?
b. How does the Unit Benefit from this work?
c. How does the Grad Student benefit from this work?
d. How much funding is needed?
e. What will the funding be used for?
f. Timeline of the project
2. Unit will then consult with the Financial Specialist and/or the Academic Department Manager
a. Is there funding available?
b. Does the proposal fall within University Guidelines?
c. How will the funding be paid (Stipend, payroll, expense reimbursement?)
3. Unit will approve or reject request
a. If approved, the Unit will submit for final review to the Chair of GNS
b. The Chair of GNS will then provide the Financial Specialist with the final Approval
Before using the funds the Grad student will need to work the Financial Specialist/Payroll to ensure all University Accounting Policy and Procedures are being followed.
