Guide: Reminders and Tips for Lumen Programs Proposals Approvers

This document provides reminders on what to look for when reviewing a Lumen Programs proposal. Many of these tips have been derived from identifying consistent issues on a number of proposals in the past. In other words, the tables below highlight some of the common questions and edits seen on graduate Lumen Programs proposals.

Proposal Review

Edits to governed content on a graduate program's Guide page must be made and approved via Lumen Programs. The Graduate School is responsible for approving proposals to ensure alignment with graduate education policy. The admissions, requirements, and policies tabs are referred to as integration points in Lumen. To assist those responsible with approving proposals, check for the following in the integration points.

Admissions Tab Reminders

Does the program follow the Graduate School's minimum English proficiency test scores for admission? Yes Confirm field follows standardized format indicated in Editing Governed Tabs.

Is there repetition of information already stated in the admissions table? In other words, does the program repeat deadlines or information in the narrative underneath the table? Yes Keep information in the table and delete information underneath the table.

Does the program provide application-related information in general terms? Yes No change needed
No Consider revision to frame application-related instructions and information in general terms. Remember Guide can only be updated once per year.
For doctoral minors or graduate/professional certificates, is the required admissions language present for the credential? Yes No change needed

Do the program's prior coursework policies align with the program's minimum residence credit requirement? Yes No change needed

If applicable, do curricular pathways have required footnote? Yes No change needed
No Add footnote: "These pathways are internal to the program and represent different curricular paths a student can follow to earn this degree. Pathway names do not appear in the Graduate School admissions application, and they will not appear on the transcript." 
For service-based pricing programs, are curricular and program requirements specific? Yes No change needed
