Guide and Lumen
All program changes, from admissions and curricular updates up to proposal of new programs, now go through the Lumen Program Proposals form.
Lumen Program Proposals is the new integrated tool for campus where all the shared governance concerning academic programs happens, replacing the old PDF forms and memos.
Since 2018-2019, about half of the content in Guide is updated the same way, by an editor (or more than one editor) in the department/program directly into Guide in the fall.
The other half of the content falls under the jurisdiction of shared governance, though, and instead of being edited in the Guide environment, it is edited using the Lumen Program Proposal System. It publishes in the edition of Guide that corresponds with whatever effective term is requested for the edits to that content. (For example, if making curricular changes effective Fall 2020, they will publish in the Guide on June 1, 2020; later effective terms mean later Guide publication dates).
Access Lumen through the My UW widget (if you don't see it, search for "Lumen" in the search bar).
Click "Guide" to edit non-governed content in Guide, "Program Proposals" to edit governed content, and also check out the Calendar and the Lumen KnowledgeBase with help articles for Guide and Lumen.
To edit the following tabs, which contain non-governed content, use the Next-Guide editing environment: Overview, Funding, Professional Development, People, and the Contact Information box in the lower right-hand corner of each page. This content can only be edited once a year by programs in the fall, with the content publishing on June 1. In 2019, the editing window opens on November 4 and closes on December 19.
To edit the following tabs, which contain governed content, use the Lumen Program Proposals form: Admissions, Requirements, Policies, Learning Outcomes, and Accreditation (if relevant). This content can be edited twice a year, with publications in late October and June 1. For Spring 2020, proposals are due through workflow by September 27, 2019. For Fall 2020, proposals are due through workflow by April 10, 2020.
A calendar with relevant dates for the 2020-2021 Guide update cycle can be found here.
