Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Support

Graduate program staff members' work with graduate students is key to their success – from admission through degree conferral and into impactful careers.

In recognition of the importance of these roles, the Graduate School is offering two awards that recognize outstanding support of graduate students, in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Advising:

Excellence in Graduate Academic Services and Advising 
This award recognizes individuals who support the academic, research, and scholarly success of master’s and doctoral students at UW–Madison through their work across the graduate lifecycle and positively influence students’ and/or other stakeholders’ experiences with campus. These individuals deliver outstanding service and support which may include advising graduate students on admissions procedures, academic policies, coursework selection, milestone achievement, degree attainment, and more. 

Excellence in Graduate Career Advising and Professional Development 
This award recognizes individuals who support the career and professional success of master’s and doctoral students at UW–Madison. This work may encompass helping graduate students discover career path options; exploring skills, values, and interests; facilitating connections with alumni and others; preparing graduate students for the job application process; referring to resources; and more. 

Each awardee receives up to $2,000 in professional development funding from the Graduate School.

The nomination process for this annual award takes place in the spring semester. Nominations require two letters of support and the nominee’s résumé or CV. Additional information is available from the Office of Undergraduate Advising.
