Zoom crashes when screen sharing

When trying to screen share during a Zoom meeting, the application crashes with an error "Zoom unexpectedly closed."

Typically, this is a result of the customer having the 32-bit version of Zoom installed when they should have the 64-bit.

Verify the 64-bit version of Zoom is installed:

  1. Open Task Manager
  2. Under Processes tab, find Zoom Meetings
    • If Zoom has "32-bit" next to it, then the 32-bit version is installed.
    • If Zoom has nothing after it, then the 64-bit version is installed.
  3. Uninstall Zoom (32-bit)
  4. Install the 64-bit version from https://zoom.us/download

If the problem is still occurring:

Update all of the computer's drivers.

Modify the Video Rendering Method:

  1. Open Zoom > click the profile picture > Settings
  2. Select Video in the navigation menu
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Set Video Rendering Method to Direct3D9
  5. Restart the computer
