Transferring Equipment to GDS

This is a guide to transferring Technical Services stock equipment to a member of the GDS team.

When transferring equipment from Technical Services stock, the first thing you need to do is make sure the item you need is on the shelf and available for use.

Step 1. Take the box off the shelf and bring it with you to your work station. You will want to email or Teams the Service Tag to Ryan Perkins. (Ryan.Perkins@wisc.edu)

Step 2. On the IT Financials website use the Service Tag to look up the device by Serial Number and update the assignment as "SOLD"

Step 3. Select Add/Edit Notes on the right hand of the screen. In the text box, write the GDS ticket number provided by Ryan Perkins and that the equipment is being transferred to GDS.

Step 4. Take the DoIT number labels off of the box, and write a note saying the ticket number and that it is being transferred to GDS.

Step 5. Place the box with sticky note onto the shelf reserved for picking up equipment in Office 324.
