Spirion (Identity Finder) - Performing a Scan with the Local Client

This document describes the steps to perform a scan with Spirion for Windows and Mac. Windows screenshots were taken with Spirion version 10.9. All steps have been verified through Spirion 12.6 although appearance will differ.

All data shown is false.

To Perform a scan on Windows:

    1. Open Spirion.
    2. Enter the Spirion password then click OK, or click Skip.Identity Finder profile password dialogue

    1. In this screen you can choose to start a scan or continue a previous scan.

    1. In this screen you can choose to start a scan or continue a previous scan.To start the scan, click the Start Search Now button Starting a search. Spirion searches your Documents folder for Credit Card Numbers and Social Security Numbers by default.
    2. While the scan runs the following status message is displayed.

    1. When Spirion completes the scan the window will display a summary of the results.

    1. In the Finder Search Summary window, the options to choose are Wizard , Advanced , Save As , and Reminder Saving  results data button.
    2. Choose the Save As button Save as button.
    3. A dialog box will open where you can specify the name and location to save the file. Any location you prefer is acceptable.
      If you have specified a profile password, ensure the "Use Spirion Profile Password" box is checked. This provides additional security.


  1. The Finder Search Summary window will open again.
  2. Now choose the Advanced button Search completed notice.. This will open the Advanced view to handle all instances the scan found.

    Note: Be sure to delete outdated scan results from your computer.

To perform a scan on Mac:

    1. Launch Spirion from the Applications folder.
    2. The main Spirion window will open. From here click the Start button located in the upper left hand corner.
    3. Spirion will scan your computer for sensitive information. By default, Spirion will look for Credit Card Numbers and Social Security Numbers in your Documents folder. A Spirion Status window will be displayed, detailing what the scan is doing.
    4. Click OK when the Search Complete window appears.

The results will be displayed in Spirion.

Choose Save from the File menu.

A Save window will open. Specify a file name and location for the results. Any location is acceptable. Spirion also requires that results are protected with a password.

    1. Click Save when all information has been entered. Spirion will return to the Results window.
