Learn@UW/D2L - Login Procedures for UW-LaCrosse
The login procedure for UW-LaCrosse students faculty and students is as follows:
A user may have a Campus account or a Special Internal account. Most instructors and students have Campus accounts. Special Internal accounts are created within the D2L Learning Environment and are typically used for guests and test accounts. The following rules apply only to Campus accounts:User Name
The username is the same as their university email address (up to the @ sign). This is the first eight letters of their last name, a dot (“.”), and the first four letters of their first name (legal name, not nickname). Users who have common first names may have the first three letters of the first name followed by a numeric digit.
Examples: student.anni (Annie Student), doe.joh1 (John Doe)
Learn@UW passwords for LaCrosse users will be the same as their UW-L email password. The default email password is composed of the last four digits of the Student ID (for students) or the last four digits of the Social Security number (for instructors) followed by the two-digit month and two-digit day of birth for a total of 8 digits followed by “@UWL” without the quotation marks.
Example: 12340506@UWL (for a user whose Student ID or Social Security number ends in 1234 and whose birthday is May 6.)
The only exceptions – and there are very few of them – are usernames for test students or visitors from off campus.
