Symantec Endpoint Protection - Changing the LiveUpdate Schedule
This document walks through the steps necessary to change how LiveUpdate is scheduled to automatically check for updates.
-
Start Symantec Endpoint Protection by double-clicking the yellow shield icon in the system tray. (Note: If you are running in safe mode, the icon in the system tray will not be present. In this case, open Symantec using the program icon from the start menu.)
-
Click on the Change settings button in the left navigation.
-
Click the Configure Settings button next to "Client Management".
-
In the new window that opens, select the "LiveUpdate" tab.
-
Change the LiveUpdate schedule.
-
Enable Automatic Updates should be checked by default. If it is not, click the check-box to enable it.
-
In the "Frequency and Time" drop down, configure a schedule that your computer is usually turned on and has access to the Internet. We suggest "7PM" or later on a "Daily" basis because Symantec typically releases new virus definitions on LiveUpdate in the afternoons. You're not likely to see new virus definitions released everyday, but you should see new definitions at least once per week.
- Click OK to close the Virus Definition Update Schedule dialog.

You are finished updating the LiveUpdate schedule. You can close Symantec Endpoint Protection.
