WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - "Requested User Does Not Exist" Error
This document will show you what the "Requested User Does Not Exist" error looks like, explain when it occurs, what it means, and will explain how to fix the issue.
You will receive the "Requested User Does Not Exist" error if you try adding someone as a user on your site and their credentials do not exist in WiscWeb. You may also receive this error if the user you are trying to add has a FERPA flag on their account.
- First, make sure that the user has logged into WiscWeb at least once. This logs their credentials in the system and allows you to add them to your project. We recommend that they use a private browsing or incognito window to log in. Have them open a new private browser session and navigate to
https://wiscweb.wisc.edu. Then, they should login with their NetID credentials.
- Second, double check to make sure you are attempting to add them using their primary email address. You can check this by looking them up in the Campus Search tool.
- If the step above does not work, the user may have a FERPA flag on their account and you will not be able to add them. In this case, please send an email to our support team at firstname.lastname@example.org and include the project name, website URL, and NetID of the person(s) you would like added.
