No-Contact Computer Dropoff/Pickup at DoIT
In response to COVID-19, the Walk-In Help Desk is moving to an appointment only model and is adjusting how computers are dropped off and picked up for customers.
The Walk-In Help Desk (WiHD) has moved to an appointment only model in response to COVID-19. If you have a computer hardware issue, please contact repair@doit.wisc.edu to setup a remote troubleshooting session. If the technician confirms a hardware issue, you can then schedule a hardware drop-off at the Computer Sciences building. Drop-offs work as follows:
-
All necessary paperwork is completed before drop-off.
-
At the confirmed time, the customer comes to the Computer Science building with their CampusID or government issued ID.
-
A technician wearing gloves and a facemask will use the automatic door button to allowyou into the Dayton St. lobby area, maintaining a six-foot distance throughout the process.
-
There is a drop-off bin for computers next to hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes.
-
After dropping the machine off, our staff will take it from there!
-
Once work is complete, you can arrange a pickup time and follow the same building entry process as before. The repaired computer will be in a clean bin for pickup. No paperwork or payments are handled in-person.
