OS Compatibility Testing - Mac OS 11.0 (Big Sur)

This document details the results of Departmental Support's software compatibility testing with Mac OS 11.0 (Big Sur).

Overview

All applications were tested on a macOS 11.0 build upgraded from a fresh installation of macOS 10.15 as well as a clean installation of macOS 11.0.  Updated on 3/23/2021.

If you are looking for M1 mac compatibility see here

Recommendation

DoIT Support recommends against upgrading to new macOS versions until all relevant campus security software applications have been validated as functional.

UPDATE 12/1/2020: The release of Apple's new M1 Macs, which only ship with Big Sur, has introduced an additional level of complexity in evaluating compatibility with Mac applications.  While some applications may work with Big Sur on Intel Macs, they may not with Big Sur on M1 Macs.  See M1 compatibility here.
