Microsoft Authenticator required to login to Microsoft Azure portal
After authenticating to the Azure portal with their NetID and Duo, some users are seeing a "Microsoft Authenticator: Start by getting the app" pop up. Access to the Azure portal is not allowed until Microsoft Authenticator is configured.
We are working to revert this unintended change, but for now users will be able to setup Microsoft Authenticator using the link configured in the pop up.
Activating Microsoft Authenticator will not have any impact on your current use of Duo and will only be used to access the Azure portal while we work to resolve this issue.
If you seem to be locked out, please create a ticket with the DoIT Help Desk https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=1 and ask them to send a case to the Microsoft 365 team to reset your Microsoft multi-factor (MFA) device in the Microsoft admin portal.
Help Desk Agents: Please escalate these cases to the PCS team via the following classification in WiscIT: Microsoft 365 > General > Other.
Please make sure the user's NetID is included in the ticket prior to escalation.
