Although StarOffice is capable of reading and writing Microsoft Office documents it is not 100% compatible. Formating along with other special features may not always convert properly when exchanging documents.

StarOffice is capable of reading and writing the various file formats used by Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office is not able to read StarOffice's native file format so if you wish to exchange documents be sure to use Microsoft's file format.

To save documents using Microsoft's file format from within StarOffice simply use the Save as type: dropdown menu, found in the save dialog box.
