Learn@UW/D2L - Impersonating Students in a Course

This document explains how an instructor can impersonate students in a Learn@UW course as well as why an instructor may not be able to do so.

If you have permission to impersonate students enrolled in your course, you may do so by performing the following:

  1. Select the Classlist tool.

  2. In the table of course participants, select Impersonate from the drop-down by the student you wish to impersonate. (If the option is not there, you do not have permission to impersonate students on your Learn@UW instance.)

  3. You will receive a Confirmation pop-up message to impersonate the participant.  Click Yes to continue.  This will log you in as that student.  The student's name is displayed by a drop-down at the right of the minibar.

  4. To log out as that student and log in as yourself, click on the X in the upper right corner from the drop-down at the right of the minibar.
