# Learn@UW/D2L - Gradebook Page Size Limits for Standard View

The maximum page size that can be used in the Standard (not the Spreadsheet) view of the gradebook is limited, based on the number of Grade items, to ensure satisfactory performance with large gradebooks.

Although the possible page sizes for various tools in the Learn@UW application can be set to 10, 20, 50, 100, or 200, the page size for the gradebook is reduced, if necessary, so that the page size times the number of columns in the gradebook does not exceed the maximum number of cells allowed on a page within the Standard view.

The number of columns in the gradebook equals the number of grade items plus the number of grade categories plus two to accommodate the Final Calculate Grade and Final Adjusted Grade. For example, if there are 36 grade items within each of one of 4 grade categories, the number of columns in the gradebook is 42.

By default, the maximum number of cells allowed on a page within the Standard view is 4000.

Note that a page size of 10 is always allowed even if this limit would be exceeded.

Using the limit of 4000 cells per page, the following table below gives the maximum page size that can be used for the Standard view of a gradebook in a course based on the number of columns in the gradebook:
