WiscVPN service on Chromebooks

Configuration for Chromebook
The legacy WiscVPN service wiscvpn.doit.wisc.edu does not support Chromebook with the Cisco Anyconnect client software, but basic WiscVPN service is available using the following configuration on Chromebooks.

Chromebook connectivity DOES NOT support static IP addresses as described in https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=2481

1.  Login to the Chromebook using your NetID username/password.
2. Click on the WiFI icon on the lower right side of the screen.
3. Click on Settings.
4. Click on Add connection, select OpenVPN/L2TP
5. In the Server Hostname field enter: wiscvpn.doit.wisc.edu
6. In the Service name enter: wiscvpn
7. In the Pre-shared key: field enter;  Y8Ma72!
8. In the Username field enter: your netid username
9. in the Password field enter: your netid password.
10. Click connect

To verify connectivity

1. Click on the WiFI icon on the lower right side of the screen.
2. Click on Connected to wiscvpn
3. Click on wiscvpn
4. Notice the Green Connected Private network status.


To disconnect from WiscVPN on Chromebook:
1.  Click on the WiFI icon on the lower right side of the screen.
2.  Click on Connected to wiscvpn
3. click on the Disconnect box to the right of the top wiscvpn entry

To connect to WiscVPN on Chromebook after configuration is done:
1.  Click on the WiFI icon on the lower right side of the screen.
2. Click on VPN disconnected
3. Click on wiscvpn
4. Enter your netid password if you did not check the Save identify and password box.
