Outside Activities Reports/Conflict of Interest Committee

Outside Activities Reports/Conflict of Interest Committee

Policies of the UW System Board of Regents, federal government, and UW–Madison require disclosure of all outside activities related to one's institutional responsibilities. All faculty, regardless of appointment, all academic staff with 50% or greater appointment, and all individuals listed as participants on human subject protocols or on federal grants are required to fill out an annual Outside Activities Report (OAR) and update whenever new outside activities are undertaken. A UW-Madison faculty Conflict of Interest Committee reviews information submitted in OARs for the existence of significant financial interests, evaluates nexus between research, teaching, and other university responsibilities and the outside interests, and makes a motion and majority vote for management when appropriate.

For additional information on outside activities reporting and the activities of the Conflict of Interest Committee, see the Outside Activities Report and Conflict of Interest Committee webpage.
