New Features

Global Tracing Option
This feature allows tracing to be enabled globally for Open Text Secure Shell. In order to do this, you need to manually change settings in the CSS.INI file, located in the "User Files"\Security directory. The following shows example settings:

[CSS Settings]
Global Tunnel Trace Level=1
Global Replace Trace File=On
Global Tunnel Trace File=C:\XXX.TXT

Support general-purpose FTP profiles
Users can now create general HostExplorer FTP profiles that do not specify a host address. The user is prompted for the host address when connecting.

The provided host address will be treated in the same manner as the credentials cache, and will be subject to the same expiry period.

When creating a profile without a specified host address, do the following:

- Enable Update Cache On Connect on the Advanced tab.

- Add the following command to heshell.ini to delete the cache on disconnect:

[FTP Settings]
ClearCredentialsCacheOnDisconnect = 1

- Before connecting to a new host, or to the same host with different credentials, close all FTP windows that are using this profile (both connected and disconnected windows should be closed).

- Do not use this profile to launch two or more sessions to different hosts concurrently.

- Clear the cache for this profile between connections to different hosts or to same host with different credentials.

- Do not clear the cache if a connection based on this profile is already running.

HostExplorer Migration Wizard support for environment string replacers
HostExplorer Migration Wizard now supports environment string replacers, (for example, %USERPROFILE%) in paths specified on its command line.

HostExplorer OLE Automation Enhancement: ShellExecute
HostExplorer's OLE Automation interface now supports a ShellExecute command to run external programs.

Example:

HEObject.ShellExecute "C:\TEST.BAT", 1

where HEObject is the HostExplorer application object.

Keypad
HostExplorer now supports Keypads. A new function "Display Keypads dialog" is now available as a System Command. The function can be added to any toolbar or keypad.

To create a new Keypad:

1) Select "Customize Toolbars..." from HostExplorer Tools menu. The Customize Toolbars and Keypads dialog box opens.

2) From the "New" button drop down menu, select the Keypad menu item. The New Keypad dialog box opens. Select one of the following:

Starts With Default - Uses the default Keypad configuration as a basis for the custom Keypad that you want to create.

Keypad Size - Lets you change the number of Keypad columns and rows.

Resolved Issues

Exceed with Secure Shell - The SSH xterm session intermittently crashing
Under certain circumstances, xterm sessions connecting with Open Text Secure Shell could intermittently disappear.

Keyboard interactive password change fails
Under certain circumstances, some messages for password changes using keyboard interactive authentication were not displayed and the password change failed.

Open Text Secure Shell console hang
Under certain circumstances, the Open Text Secure Shell console would freeze and not respond to user input.

Overriding Kerberos client with Active Directory fails
Selecting Active Directory as the Kerberos client was not honoured unless that selection was specified in a tunnel profile.

Unable to Secure Shell to Unix host
When using Open Text Secure Shell with Exceed to secure X11 connections, some VPNs required the setting "Enable IPv6 Sockets=Off" in the tunnel profile to connect.

CKutil fails to import PuTTY keys with passphrase
A command line import of a PuTTY private key failed (displaying the Key Import Failed message) although the Open Text Secure Shell Console can import these keys successfully.

HostExplorer FTP lists files with trailing '*'
This patch resolves an issue where HostExplorer FTP occasionally displayed the POSIX "Special File" type identifier ('*') as part of the file name.
Add the following line to HeShell.ini under [FTP Settings]:

StripUnixSpecialFileMarker=1

Default value is '0'

Incorrect display of DMY timestamp format with AS/400 FTP servers
HostExplorer FTP occasionally fails to display file dates from AS/400 FTP servers when the date display format is set to day-month-year format.

When connecting to an AS/400 FTP server that displays dates in this format, clear the Auto-Detect Server Type option and select AS/400-European Date from the Type of FTP Server list.

Windows Explorer crash with FTP Copy to Long Path Name
This patch resolves an issue with transferring files with long file names or long target path specifications. HostExplorer FTP now shows a error message when file or path specifications exceed permissible values.

View Files opens Notepad instead of associated application
In HostExplorer FTP, View Files launched Notepad to view files from an FTP server instead of the associated application.

File Transfer process crashes at the end of a download
This patch addresses an intermittent problem that occasionally caused the transfer process to crash at the end of a file transfer.

Unable to view FTP files from Sessions published using Citrix XenApp
This patch fixes a problem where viewing FTP files from sessions launched using Citrix XenApp caused the file transfer window to hang.

Secure FTP shows wrong dates when connected to certain SSH servers
This patch fixes an issue that caused Classic FTP listings to display incorrect dates when connected to some SSH servers.

Some SSH servers provided directory listing entries in response to Secure FTP requests that did not follow the standard Unix convention (i.e. they always included time of day values in the time field instead of alternating the field between time of day and year depending if the file was modified within a year or longer).

The Secure FTP module in Open Text Secure Shell now builds correct listing entries using the file attribute field instead of the improperly built text provided by the SSH server.

Using the keyboard to select text past the end of a line for TN3270 and TN5250 terminals
Selecting text past the end of a line (using the keyboard) may result in incorrect copy/paste functionality for TN3270 and TN5250 terminals.

Deployment migration to v13 or v14 does not honor the Organization parameter
Version 8, 9 and 10 HostExplorer Deployment Projects migrated to version 13 or 14 would occasionally fail to honor the Organization parameter. This has been fixed.

Index Page Wizard can't find .gif files
Under certain circumstances, when running the Index Page wizard to deploy a 3270 session, the following message appeared:

"C:\Program Files\Hummingbird\Connectivity\13.70\Accessories\images\tn3270.gif The system cannot find the path specified"

Line drawing characters left on screen
Screens were occasionally displaying line drawing characters from previous screens after switching between Line Modes.

Access violation exceptions using ehllap32
Under some circumstances, HostExplorer experienced an access violation exception when a call to EHLLAP32::pcsStopSession was made on an already closed session.

Session state seems incorrect with pcsStopSession()/pcsQuerySession() calls
Under some circumstances, EHLLAP32::pcsStopSession and EHLLAP32::pcscQuerySession() gave an incorrect session state return value.

Print Services Console crash on Windows 2008 x32 Server SP2
Under some circumstances, loading and connecting 4 or more printer sessions may cause a failure with the PESRV service running under Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.

The PeSrv service must be stopped before copying the new files and must be manually restarted after.

"Exit All" issue with TN3270 emulation session
If an application was using EHLLAPI32::StartCloseIntercept() to intercept a session close event, pressing "Exit All" from a session's menu did not always close all HostExplorer sessions.

An application window supposed to be hidden is flashing on the desktop
When launching a 3270 session in HostExplorer, the application window would occasionally flash when launching a session that was supposed to be hidden.

HostExplorer 3270 window loses focus when printer session starts up as minimized
The HostExplorer window was losing focus when a printer session started up as minimized.

URL hotspot is truncated when longer then 80 characters
With hotspots and word wrap enabled, if a URL in a VT session was longer than 80 characters, it no longer functioned correctly.

Host printing problem from second VT session
This patch fixes an issue with VT sessions that prevented a second running session from printing.

Cursor movement problem in VT connections
In VT, selecting a new cursor position with the mouse sends to the host the number of arrow key stokes (ESC sequences) necessary to reach the new position (DOWN, UP, LEFT, RIGHT).

HostExplorer was sending each ESC sequence individually then receiving an answer from the host: this is why we saw the intermediate cursor positions.

HostExplorer now accumulates all ESC sequences to be sent and sends them all at once. However, we do not control how the host will respond: the cursor will be placed at the position decided by the host.

Opening Certificates and Keys in the Open Text Secure Shell Console might result in a crash
Under certain circumstances, clicking the Certificates and Keys button in the Open Text Secure Shell Console resulted in a crash.

HostExplorer 14.0: 8 bit communication mode not working
With some VT terminal types, the arrow keys would not work in VT-Terminal-Communication mode = 8 bit.
