Learning Pathway Handout

diagram of learning pathway

A learning pathway is a visualization of activities students engage in to achieve a specific course learning outcome and leverages Bloom's Taxonomy (in this example, the cognitive domain). Learning pathways are structured from lower-level to higher-level learning activities. Pathways begin with students' assumed level of understanding at the beginning of the course. The pathway ends at the level of the identified course learning outcome. A developed learning pathway provides opportunities to assess learning as students progress. It can also communicate to students how activities are related to and support other activities. It can also identify gaps in the progression of learning.
