My UW Early NetID Activation for New Employees and Contingent Workers (UW-Madison only)

NetIDs are used to access many campus applications and services like My UW-Madison, Web Enrollment, Office 365. New UW-Madison employees can activate their NetID's prior to their start date using the 12-digit Activation Key assigned to them by their HR or payroll staff.

The Early NetID Activation for New Hires process allows UW-Madison employees, contingent workers, and anybody listed within Workday to activate their NetID and core UW IT services prior to their job start date. Once an HR professional enters a new employee/person in Workday and the employee Emplid has been generated along with a complete job record, the HR professional enters the Emplid in the New Hire NetID Activation module in MyUW, which they will get access to once authorized. This action generates a NetID Activation Key that HR staff send to the new hire. With the NetID Activation Key, the new employee is able to activate his/her NetID.

Note that even if this process is followed, the new employee/contingent worker is NOT allowed to get a Wiscard until after the job effective start date.
