Review and Revision History
Date Activity
Nov, 2024 November 15, 2024 version, major modification. Situates Password Standard under UW-528 IT Credentials Policy and uses NIST 800-63 as a reference standard. Risk Acceptance Form to cover variance between the Password Standard and SYS 1030 Identity and Access Management (effective December 1, 2024) submitted to UWSA.
Jun, 2018 Reviewed. Standard needs to be revised to match the compensating control memo sent to and approved by UW System. Publishing of the revised standard needs to be coordinated with the general rollout of MFA to students, because the new standard distinguishes between cases where MFA is used or not used. The current Password Policy will be rescinded when the IT Credentials Policy is approved. The Password Standard will become a standard under the IT Credentials Policy which will effectively contain the same mandate as the current Password Policy.
