Printing (Windows) - Adding a Copy Code for a Canon Copier

Follow these steps to enter a Department ID, or copy code, into printer preferences for a Canon copier.

Windows 11

  1. Open Settings.
  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Click Printers & scanners.
  4. Select the copier from the list of connected printers.

    If you do not see the copier in your list of printers, see Printing (Windows) - Mapping a Departmental Printer for steps to connect.

  5. Click Printing preferences.
  6. Go to the Support/Device tab.

    If you do not see the Support/Device tab, contact the TechZone for assistance.

  7. Click Authentication Information Settings...
  8. Enter your code into the "Department ID" field. In most cases, you should leave the "PIN" blank.
  9. Click OK then OK.
  10. Send a print job to the copier to test that you can print without being prompted for a code.

Windows 10

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Devices.
  3. In the navigation pane on the left, click Printers & scanners.
  4. Select the copier from the list of connected printers, then click Manage.

    If you do not see the copier in your list of printers, see Printing (Windows) - Mapping a Departmental Printer for steps to connect.

  5. Click Printing preferences.
  6. Go to the Support/Device tab.

    If you do not see the Support/Device tab, contact the TechZone for assistance.

  7. Click Authentication Information Settings...
  8. Enter your code into the "Department ID" field. In most cases, you should leave the "PIN" blank.
  9. Click OK then OK.
  10. Send a print job to the copier to test that you can print without being prompted for a code.
