Van Hise room 294 AV Equipment and Support

An overview of the AV equipment in Van Hise 294 and instructions on how to use and support the equipment

Van Hise room 294 is currently designed in BYOD (Bring your own device) mode.
Users can connect their laptop to the available USB and HDMI cables to get started.

The two TVs, Logitech Rally Bar, and connection cables in the room.

Sharing content for an in-person meeting:

  1. Use the remote controls in the room to turn on the TV's as needed.
  2. Connect the laptop to the available HDMI cable..
  3. The displays should automatically begin displaying the content from the laptop.

Having a hybrid meeting:

  1. Use the remote controls in the room to turn on the TV's as needed.
  2. Connect the laptop to the available HDMI AND USB cables.
    1. The displays should automatically begin displaying the content from the laptop.
  3. Configure preferences in Teams/Zoom/etc. to use the Logitech Rally Bar (aka: Logi) as the Camera, Mic & Speakers

Troubleshooting:

Issues displaying content?

  • Verify that the TV's are turned on
  • Re-seat the HDMI cable on the laptop
  • Confirm that the display options on the laptop can identify both the built-in screen and external displays
  • Is the Logitech Rally Bar turned off?
    • If there is no LED on the front of the device it may be powered off.
    • Turn on the Logitech Rally Bar using the power button on the back of it.
  • NOTE: In the current configuration the TV's are only able to mirror each other.
  • NOTE: In the current configuration the TV's are limited to 1080p resolution.

Issues using the Logitech Rally Bar for hybrid meetings (ex. Teams/Zoom/etc.)

  • Re-seat the USB cable
  • Change the hardware preferences in the Teams/Zoom/etc. app to use the Logitech Rally Bar (aka: Logi) for:
    • Speakers,
    • Mic, and
    • Camera.
  • Use the integrated testing features in the Teams/Zoom/etc. app to verify that the Mic, Speakers & Cam are working
    • Ex. Teams Settings gives you the option to "Make a Test Call" to confirm mic & speaker functionality, and a preview window to demostrate camera functionality
    • Ex. Zoom preferences let you test the speakers and provide an indicator bar for mic pickup, as well as offer a preview window to demonstrate cam functionality
  • Confirm that there is an LED on the front of the Logitech Rally Bar to confirm it is turned on
    • No LED? Use the power button on the back of the Logitech Rally Bar to turn it on as needed
    • A blinking or non-white LED? This may indicate the device needs to be restarted

  • Escalate for futher assistance as needed.
