Windows - Using Administrative Credentials

How to use administrative credentials to perform tasks in Windows.

On your work computer, you may need to use Make Me Admin (Windows) to become an administrator before following these steps.

When running an installer or changing a Windows setting that requires administrative rights, follow these steps.

  1. Start the installer or change the setting that requires administrative rights.
  2. When prompted to enter an admin password:
    • If no username is listed, enter your NetID and password and click Yes.
    • If your username is listed, enter your password and click Yes.
    • If a username is listed but it is not yours, click More choices, scroll down to select your user from the list, enter your password, and click Yes.
