Transferring from the UW Law School

Information for students who plan to transfer from the UW Law School.

Students do not need approval from University of Wisconsin Law School to transfer to another law school. Instead, they must meet the criteria for transfer specified by the school to which they are applying. Students may be asked to provide any of the following as part of the transfer application process:

  • official UW transcripts, which can requested by following these instructions
  • a letter stating the applicant is in good academic and disciplinary standing, which can be requested from the Law School Registrar; and/or
  • a form verifying the applicant is in good academic and disciplinary standing, which should be sent to the Law School Registrar for completion.

Upon accepting admission to another law school, students should notify the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, drop any courses they are enrolled in for the upcoming semester, clean out their lockers, and contact career@law.wisc.edu if received Summer Public Service Fellowship (SPSF) funding.
