Learn@UW - Problem Copying, Exporting, or Importing Course Files

Sometimes course files fail to copy when using Copy Components, Export Components, Import Components, or Bulk Course Export.

The cause of the problem is usually one of the following:

In either case, the process will fail with no error message to help identify the problem or the file(s)/folder(s) whose path(s) are too long or contain invalid characters.

To troubleshoot, it may be necessary to compare the files in the source course and the target course to identify the file where the process became blocked.  Rename files and/or folders in the source course and attempt to copy the remaining files again.

As a best practice, file and folder names should be kept short and not include special characters that can be a problem. Refer to Learn@UW - Special Characters in File and Folder Names.
