Canvas - Known Issue - Inaccessible question types in New Quizzes (Stimulus and Hot Spot question types)

Some new question types (Stimulus and Hot Spot) that are only available in New Quizzes are inaccessible and should not be used.

Using the two inaccessible question types in New Quizzes (Stimulus and Hot Spot) is a violation of the Federal accessibility guidelines and UW-Madison’s own accessibility guidelines. These question types are inaccessible and should be avoided.

    Affects

Students who use screen readers or other assistive technology will not be able to successfully answer these inaccessible question types.

    Status

Instructure, the company behind Canvas, currently has no plans to make these question types accessible.

    Workaround

There is no workaround to make these question types accessible. The only workaround is to avoid using Stimulus and Hot Spot question types.
