Research Security Programs (RSP) Canvas Training
This KB outlines the steps for learners to take to successfully complete the Research Security Programs (RSP) Training and have their score recorded in Canvas. This is a self-guided training that can take (on average) 1-1.5 hour(s) to review and interact with the content.
Please note that this KB only addresses the Canvas training.
The Research Security Programs (RSP) focus on information and guidance for faculty, staff, and any students who may be required to complete a training compliance course for their roles at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
A Research Security Program is required by the federal government to protect against foreign government interference and exploitation at research institutions receiving federal funds.
- This online program provides participants with information about relevant laws, policies, regulations and resources; explore the practical application of these policies to national security concerns surrounding research involving types of sensitive data, intellectual property, export-controlled information and other risks.
- The Research Security Programs promote public investment in research, prevent the misuse of research data and advanced technology generated at universities by malign actors, and to protect the safety and security of employees and students traveling abroad.
- The federal government is focusing on areas critical to protecting the security of U.S. research such as the disclosure of conflicts of interest and commitment, including relationships or affiliations with foreign entities, and research support provided by those entities.
