Steps to Get Started with TidyUP
In order to get up and running with using UDOIT:
- Log into Canvas
- Enable TidyUP in your Canvas course. For instructions, see: TidyUP - Enabling TidyUP in Canvas [UW-Madison]

Instructor Considerations
- This tool deletes files and pages permanently. Please make sure you are backing up any files you may need for future courses. Consider using one of the cloud solutions on campus like Box, Google Drive, or One Drive.

- This tool does not see files or images that are used in Question Banks for Classic Quizzes and other LTIs (example: New Quizzes). It is recommended that you create a folder to store those files in Canvas and then exempt them from being scanned.
- Students cannot see this tool nor access it, so there is no need to worry about them getting in and deleting files. Only instructors, designers, and administrators have access to this tool.
- TidyUP looks for content that is not “In Use”. This means that it looks for files and pages that are not linked to or embedded in any pages in your course.
Tool Functionality
- Locates unused files and folders and allows you to easily archive and delete them.
- Managing files by allowing you to rename the files and/or move them into existing folders.

UW-Madison has an institutional license for TidyUP. There is no direct cost (i.e. TidyUPis free) to UW-Madison staff, and faculty.
