Learn@UW Madison - Deactivation Timeline for Learn@UW Tools [UW-Madison]

This document explains how your access to Learn@UW Tools might change after leaving UW-Madison.

How does my NetID account change after leaving the university?

After you leave the university, you may lose access to certain tools or services. If you are preparing to leave the university, please consider these two questions: When will I lose access? And What should I do to prepare?

This document will answer those two questions for each Learn@UW tool that may be necessary to complete a course. 

Although this document only discusses Learn@UW-Madison tools, you can find information about other UW-Madison services in these two documents:

   

Atomic Assessments

When will I lose access to Atomic Assessments?

There is currently no deactivation timeline for Atomic Assessments accounts at UW-Madison. Access is tied to your Canvas account, so you will have access to Atomic Assessments as long as you have access to Canvas.

What should I do when I leave the University?

Instructors and students will not need to export any data before leaving UW-Madison.

Canvas

When will I lose access to Canvas?

There is currently no deactivation timeline for Canvas accounts at UW-Madison; most individuals with access to Canvas and other Learn@UW-Madison tools will be able to log in indefinitely, as long as their NetID/Shibboleth credentials are active. 

What should I do when I leave the University?

If you are an instructor, you may want to export your Canvas courses, which can be imported to another Learning Management System. However, you will still have access to the course in Canvas. 

Engage

When will I lose access to Engage? 

At this time, students have access to engage indefinitely. However, this is subject to change. If you would like a copy of your Engage materials, we recommend that you download your eText, as explained in the next section.


What should I do when I leave the University?

Download Your Materials

If you would like a copy of your purchased eTexts that you can retain access to, you can print them. You are allowed to print (or print to PDF) 100% of your eTexts. 

If you’re getting an error message or if the process times out when attempting to print, try downloading the text for offline use first. When that completes, attempt to print to PDF again.

Givepulse

When will I lose access to Givepulse?

Your account will lose access to Givepulse 6 months after graduation

What should I do when I leave the University?

Print your Impact Summary (service transcript) as a PDF.

Honorlock

When will I lose access to Honorlock?

You access to Honorlock is tied to your access to Canvas. At this point, there is no deactivation timeline for Honorlock accounts, and you will be able to access the tool as long as you can log into Canvas.

What should I do when I leave the University?

No action is necessary when leaving the university.

Kaltura

When will I lose access to Kaltura?

Kaltura MediaSpace is available only to Faculty, Researchers, Staff, and Students. Graduates and departing students will lose access to MediaSpace within one week of their final term. However, they will still be able to access Kaltura videos present in previous Canvas courses. Please note that this is subject to change.

What should I do when I leave the University?

NameCoach

When will I lose access to NameCoach?

Through Canvas: You will be able to access NameCoach through Canvas for as long as you have access to Canvas. At this point there is no timeline for deactivation of Canvas accounts.

Website: Access to the NameCoach website is available for as long as you have access to your NetID.

What should I do when I leave the University?

If you want to use recordings on your personal email or LinkedIn account, you can create a new NameCoach login using your personal account on https://cloud.name-coach.com/. You can then use the recordings you create on this account to update your email or other accounts.  

Turnitin

When will I lose access to Turnitin?

Access to Turnitin is tied to your Canvas access, so you will not lose access as long as you can log into Canvas. At this point there is no timeline for deactivation of Canvas accounts.

What should I do when I leave the University?

You do not need to take any action regarding Turnitin when you leave the University.
