Big Interview - Getting Started [UW Madison]

This document provides information for students and staff on how to get started using Big Interview and Big Resume.

This document is intended to be a quick primer for Big Interview, including Big Resume. It includes some considerations for students and staff, steps to help them get started, and how to get support.

  • Big Interview is a job interview training tool used to prepare for interviews as well as practice and improve interview skills. The platform offers lessons on interviewing best practices, curated sets of questions for users to practice and record themselves, resources for building strong interview answers, as well as provides AI and/or instructor entered feedback on recorded interviews.
  • Big Resume, a feature within Big Interview, provides lessons on resume best practices, offers downloadable resume templates, and uses customized scoring guides to provide AI feedback (called ResumeAI) to optimize resumes. It also allows users to create an AI generated cover letter by providing their resume and a job description.

All current students and employees of UW-Madison as well as alumni with active NetIDs have user access to Big Interview and the Big Resume feature. Org admins can create and review interview assignments in Big Interview and/or create customized resume scoring guides and downloadable resume templates in Big Resume.

Considerations for Organization Administrators

Permission Levels

Org admins are a higher level permission in the Big Interview system. The majority of org admins are career services professionals or instructors/faculty who create or manage assignments focused on interviewing and/or resumes.

All UW employees automatically receive general user access to Big Interview. Thus, if you want to explore or promote Big Interview as a resource but don’t want to utilize assignments, you do not need the org admin role.

Best Practices & Training
