D2L - Exporting an ePortfolio (UW-Madison)

UW-Madison has adopted Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system. Access to D2L and Moodle permanently ended on June 1, 2018.

This is a legacy document which will be permanently removed from the UW-Madison KB space as of June 29, 2018.

A D2L ePortfolio can be exported to a set of HTML files, ready to be uploaded to a server as a complete website.

1. In the ePortfolio tool, click on the My Items Tab.

2. Click on the moreactions.jpg button to open the drop-down menu, then select gotoimportexp.jpg

3. Click on the export.jpg button.

4. You can choose to export allitems.jpg or selecteditems.jpg.

a. If you select export All Items, all the content in your ePortfolio will be automatically added as items to the export page.
b. If you select export Selected Items, you will need to manually add items using the additems.jpg button, selecting the desired items and clicking add.jpg.

5. You will see a box that says "Automatically include associated items", which is checked by default. This option enables you to include items related to or associated with the items you are currently exporting or pushing. Choosing to automatically include associated items means that:
• reflections and learning objectives include their associated items
• presentations include the items they display
• collections include the items they contain
• items include associated reflections and learning objectives
• pushed items include associated rubrics

If an item is included multiple times, it will only appear once in the export or push package.
6. When finished, click export2.jpg.

7. Click on View Progress of the Export Package.

7. Click on the .zip file name when complete to download, and exit by clicking Done.
