Case Scenario Critical Reader - Common Issues - Project Wont Preview in Browser (UW-Madison)
Please refrain from developing new CSCR modules. UW-Madison is moving to the Canvas LMS. While CSCR modules can be loaded into Canvas courses, they cannot be connected to the Canvas gradebook. A subgroup of the Teaching and Learning Technology Advisory Group (TLTAG) is exploring alternative tools that would provide similar functionality as CSCR.
Later this spring, the team will provide a recommendation for a CSCR replacement and outline what support will be provided, if any, to migrate CSCR content. Faculty and instructors may continue using previously developed CSCR modules, but should be aware of the university’s plans to replace the tool, at which time any migration challenges will be considered.
For more information on CSCR and Canvas please read the full notification on the Canvas Information website. For a recommendation on what to use in the meantime, please contact the designated instructional technologist for your school or college.
While working on a project locally , it is recommended that you preview your project often to get an idea of what the final version will look like. Here are a few reasons why your project may not be previewing:
- Preview blocked due to security reasons in Internet Explorer 10 or above, Chrome browser, or Safari 7 or above
- For security reasons many browsers block local content from being previewed in the browser.
- Previewing locally is done through Firefox, you can either set Firefox as your default browser or copy and paste the URL from the browser that gets launched into Firefox.
- This is most likely because the navigation to the next page is broken. To fix this issue, delete the button pointing to the next page, as well as any blank space that may hold leftover navigation code. Re-insert the button pointing to the next page and preview again.
