Kaltura - Known Issue - MediaSpace "Add New" Menu Options Change Based on Browser Width [UW-Madison]

This document describes how the "Add New" menu option in Kaltura MediaSpace changes based on the user's screen width.

In an effort to provide menu options appropriate to the platform the user is on Kaltura changes the options available to users in the "Add New" drop-down menu based on the user's browser width. This can sometimes cause confusion because there are use cases where a user may not have their browser at full width and thus not see all the menu options they may expect.

Affects

This affects all users and browsers. Users with their browser set to a width of greater than 1321 pixels will see:

Users with their browsers set to a width between 1127 and 1321 pixels will see:

Status

Kaltura is aware of the issue and has described it as intended behavior. Their assumption is users with browsers of smaller widths will be on devices that can't use some of the features not present.

Workaround

Users using Chrome or Firefox on the Windows or macOS should make sure their browsers are at your full screen width to see all Add New menu options in Kaltura MediaSpace. Also try zooming out (Control - ) as a zoomed in browser will have the same effect as a narrower browser.
