Process for UW employees to apply for a daytime campus parking permit
Overview of the parking application process for UW-Madison faculty and staff who want to apply for a base lot, Flex, park and ride, remote lot, or business alternate parking permit.
- Assess your parking needs and explore permit options. You are encouraged to select up to four lots/permit types in your application to increase the chances of receiving an assignment.
- Find a parking permit to fit your schedule using the permit selection guide.
- Find parking lot locations on the campus parking map.
- Find more details about permit types on the permit options page.
- Check the lots where the permit is offered and annual rates on the rates page.
- You have a better chance of getting an assignment in a lot with no waiting list. For a list of lots with no waiting list, go to the annual permit availability page.
- Apply in the Permit Application System.
- Complete an application in the Permit Application System (PAS). You will need a campus NetID and password to log in to PAS.
- Refer to the KnowledgeBase article: Apply for Parking - How to apply in the Permit Application System (PAS).
- If you encounter difficulties in the Permit Application System, please contact your Unit Transportation Coordinator.
- Make temporary commuting arrangements.
If you don't already have a parking assignment, a temporary commuting plan will be necessary while your application is being processed.
- Monthly and daily parking permits may be available. To check availability, contact customer service.
- Hourly paid parking may be available in a UW campus garage. For real-time availability, look for public parking options on the interactive campus map.
- Madison Metro Transit. Take the bus to and from campus. Plan a route with Google Maps.
- Complete a custom route planning request form for a free consultation with a route planning expert.
- Watch your email for a parking assignment.
- Permit offers are emailed to the email address on file in the eBusiness purchasing portal.
- Offers are emailed approximately every two weeks. You will only be contacted if/when an offer can be made to you. Your application will remain on waiting lists for all the lots you selected in your application until you receive an offer for a parking assignment. Waiting list positions are determined by priorities assigned by unit transportation coordinators.
- You can check the status of your application in the Permit Application System (PAS) or contact customer service for more information.
- Purchase your permit in the eBusiness purchasing portal.
- When you receive an offer, it will contain a link to the eBusiness purchasing portal. Log in to eBusiness with your NetID.

- When checking out, select your parking permit assignment from the list of options.
Notes on product fees and payment options: - Base lot, park and ride, and remote lot permits can be paid for in full by credit card or by payroll deduction (if eligible). Please note that payroll deductions are not refundable.
- Flex Gated permits have a $12 purchase fee. These funds will be available for your first day of parking when the permit is activated.
- Flex Surface permits have no upfront fees.
- Get your permit.

- Your purchase receipt will contain instructions on how to get your permit.
- Depending on the time of year, permits may be mailed to the address listed in your eBusiness account. Or, you may be required to pick up your permit in person at a Transportation Services office. Your receipt will tell you what to do.
