[ay15-16] Moodle - Blind Grading

Note:

UW-Madison has adopted Canvas as its single, centrally supported learning management system. As of 6/1/2018, support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and most Moodle courses has been discontinued. Access to those courses has permanently ended. However, certain Moodle courses that are part of the Adanced Quizzing Content Functional Gaps project are still available on Moodle. Those courses are located on the Moodle Extension site.

This article is about the Blind Grading feature in Moodle.

Blind grading is a feature that makes it possible to hide the identity of the student while you are grading items.  Students' names will be replaced by randomly generated Participant numbers.

To enable this feature, click Edit settings in the "Administration" block of the assignment.

Select Yes from the "Blind grading" drop-down in the "Grade" section.

Now when grading submissions, there will be a randomly generated number instead of a name in the "First name / Surname" section.

Blind Marking Example
NOTE: This must be enabled before any submissions or grades are made to the assignment.
NOTE: People with the role "Manager" will still be able to see names of students.
