Lost items can be picked up at the Information Desk in the Commons on the second floor. When claiming a lost item, patrons may be asked to describe it in detail. Unclaimed items are donated to charity.

Lost and Found Policy

Lost items found by or turned in to Commons staff are kept in a designated staff area. Staff may inspect items to help identify the owner and will attempt to contact them with instructions on how to retrieve their belongings.

Items containing personal identification or thought to have significant value will be turned over to UWPD. Items will be marked with the date found and held for a reasonable period. If unclaimed, items will be donated or discarded as appropriate.

Perishable or dirty items will be discarded immediately.

Contents of unattended personal belongings could be dangerous to Commons staff or compromising to the owner. Commons staff will notify police immediately when unattended personal items or packages are discovered and appear suspicious or threatening. Likewise, if contents of an item are discovered to be incriminating, Commons staff will contact the appropriate police department immediately.
