Monday, October 29
This past weekend, 11 people attending Shabbat services at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania lost their lives to a blatant act of anti-Semitism.
The Associated Students of Madison (ASM) stands against hate in all forms and it is our responsibility as students to speak out no matter where it takes place. We encourage the rest of the UW-Madison community to stand in solidarity with those affected by this tragedy, recognizing people everywhere are impacted by this act of discrimination.
Tonight, ASM Chair William Welsh and ASM Vice Chair Yogev Ben-Yitschak ask the UW-Madison community to stand united against hate in this country, and in support of victims and families in this time of need.
A vigil will take place tonight, October 29, at 7 p.m. in Library Mall. There will be an array of speakers joining Chair Welsh and Vice Chair Ben-Yitschak, including Chancellor Rebecca Blank and religious leaders within the Madison community.
In solidarity,
William Welsh
Chair, Associated Students of Madison
Yogev Ben-Yitschak
Vice Chair, Associated Students of Madison
