GCP - Requesting Support

Overview

Google has changed their cloud support policy so that all campus GCP projects are now required to have the same support level. Prior to this change, individual campus GCP projects could select free or paid support independent from the support level of any other campus GCP user.

On February 1, 2023, Standard Support was enabled for all campus GCP projects. Enabling Standard Support results in all campus GCP projects incurring a support charge equivalent to 3% of their monthly charges.

UW-Madison is in discussions with Google to revert this change to allow individual campus GCP projects once again to select free or paid support independent from the support level of any other campus GCP user.

Free Google GCP support

All GCP users have access to Google's GCP Community support forums and on social media using @GCPCloud.

Basic GCP Support

All GCP users have Google's Basic Cloud Support included with their subscription. To open a support request, log into Google Cloud support here. There are no additional charges associated with Basic support; Basic support is included with every campus GCP Project.

Standard Google GCP Support

Standard Support is enabled for all campus GCP projects. Enabling Standard Support results in all campus GCP projects incurring a support charge equivalent to 3% of their monthly charges. To open a support request, log into Google Cloud support here.

GCP Status Dashboard

Customers can check the status of Google Cloud services using Google's Cloud Status Dashboard.
