ASL may be accepted to meet the foreign language requirement for admission, if it is taken through the student's school and is reflected on an official transcript. With prior approval from an academic advisor, students may be approved to take ASL courses elsewhere and transfer credits. Students should work with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to determine which institutions offer approved ASL courses.

Madison Area Technical College offers beginning, intermediate and advanced American Sign Language non-credit courses. These are not considered approved ASL language courses at UW-Madison.

Students can receive credits for every ASL course offered at UWM. < http://uwm.edu/education/academics/american-sign-language/ >
