DISC provides quantitative, numeric microdata for researchers and students conducting secondary analysis in the social sciences. In cooperation with other data libraries on campus, and with a national and international network of similar institutions, the library serves as a local clearinghouse for the acquisition documentation, access and storage of machine readable data files. It is also an information and resource center for training in the use of machine readable data, statistical and data management software, and local computer systems. Holdings cross the disciplines of social, life, economic, political, health and physical sciences.
