The staff in Learning Support Services proudly serve students, faculty and staff in the UW-Madison College of Letters & Science by promoting and supporting the thoughtful use of technology for teaching and learning.

AV Pool: From our AV Equipment Pool (259A Van Hise Hall) instructors may borrow computers, projectors, TVs, and other audio and video equipment for short-term use in Van Hise Hall. In some instances, L&S instructors may also borrow equipment for short-term use outside Van Hise.

Learning Lab: Our Learning Lab (259 Van Hise Hall) began in 1956 as the Labs for Recorded Instruction. It has grown to house an impressive catalog of audio and video materials for teaching and learning about foreign languages, cultures, and other L&S subjects. Our Digital Learning Lab provides students enrolled in L&S courses with convenient access to assigned audio and video materials.

InfoLab: The LSS Infolab (464 Van Hise Hall) is open to all UW students needing to work with faculty-assigned courseware, word processing, and Internet services. In addition to 44 Dual boot Mac computers (Mac OS X and Windows 7) available in the lab, another 60 Macbook Airs (also dual boot) are available for three-day checkout.

Other Labs and Classrooms: Other labs, computer classrooms, and other types of rooms are available for ad hoc use by L&S courses. See links at left for more information.

Media Services: LSS staff provide expert Media Services including audio and video production, format conversion, video conferencing, streaming, and videotaping. Most are offered at low or no cost to L&S instructors. Some services are also available to instructors outside of L&S for a fee. See Media Services for more information.

TechZone: The TechZone at LSS provides computer, printer, and network support to specific departments in the College of Letters and Science. TechZone services are available to faculty, staff, and graduate assistants of various L&S departments.
