Student accessibility & usability barriers

The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist with Starfish MyUW app.

People with colorblindness may experience difficulty

The focus styling in the app fails color contrast accessibility causing users with colorblindness to potentially have a hard time reading and navigating through the app.

People who are blind and navigating via screen reader may have difficulty

Heading levels are missing in the app page content making it difficult for people who are blind and navigating via screen reader to navigate the page content. Additionally, some components and functions within the app are missing accessible labels normally read by the screen reader which also may impact the ability of people who are blind to navigate the app.

People with low vision may have difficulty reading the app

The app page content does not reflow properly when magnified at 175% - 400% which may impact the ability of people with low vision to read page content.

People who navigate via keyboard may have difficulty using the app

Some drop-down functions in the app do not close when the user navigates away via keyboard. This may cover up content or cause difficulty for people who are navigating via keyboard due to screen reader usage or a motor disability.
