The Multicultural Student Center creates programs that enhance academic achievement of students of color; develops activities to promote cultural inclusion diversity ; creates an atmosphere of warmth, identity and sense of belonging among students of color; fosters better relations within and among designated groups and between American students of color and various communities.
-Promotes a welcoming and inclusive campus for all students
-Embraces a Social Justice Education approach
-Participates in the campus retention and success plans for students of color
The center also helps build stronger links with the institution and the Madison community. Sponsors academic, social and cultural activities designed to bring people from a variety of different backgrounds together on a one-to-one basis. Publishes a monthly calendar of cultural events and meetings. The MSC focuses on the needs of five designated American ethnic groups (African American, Native American, Chicano/as, Asian American, and Puerto Rican).
Information and referral to various campus resources and support services are available. The MSC serves as an outreach post for various support services on campus.The following Multicultural Student Organizations are housed in the MSC Student Organization Office:
